معرفی
Ron Jachimowicz is a Max Planck Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing in Cologne, Germany, and an Attending Physician in the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Infectious Diseases at the University Hospital Cologne. His research focuses on the mechanisms of DNA repair and their role in aging and cancer, particularly in lymphomas. He leads an interdisciplinary team integrating biochemistry, cell biology, and computational approaches to uncover novel therapeutic strategies.
- Medical Faculty, University of Cologne (MD, 2003–2010)
His research interests center on DNA double-strand break repair, genome instability, and their consequences in aging and carcinogenesis. He investigates how defects in DNA repair pathways contribute to premature aging syndromes and cancers like mantle cell lymphoma. His work on UBQLN4 and ATM signaling has revealed critical mechanisms in homologous recombination repression and immune surveillance in lymphoma. The recent publications highlight a strong trend in understanding the molecular basis of therapy resistance, tumor microenvironment dynamics, and synthetic lethality in cancer.
- Faculty Award for the best individual publication, Faculty of Medicine, University of Cologne (2021)
- Theodor-Frerichs-Award, German Society for Internal Medicine (DGIM) (2020)
Ron Jachimowicz has secured significant third-party funding, including grants from the German Research Foundation (DFG), Else Kröner Fresenius Stiftung, and the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia. He mentors several junior researchers, including Dr. Moritz Gräf, Dr. Paul Bröckelmann, Dr. Mathilde de Jong, Dr. Orsolya Leidecker, and Julia Hansen. His lab is part of the CECAD and CANTAR research networks, enhancing collaborative translational research. The lab investigates DNA repair defects in both rare genetic syndromes and common cancers, aiming to develop genetically informed therapies.
