Ron Darvin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Education. He serves as Research Lead for UBC Language Sciences' 'Reimagining Public Discourse' initiative, focusing on AI's societal impacts. His work examines digital literacies, generative AI, and equity in multilingual education, with grants including the Hampton Fund and Inception Grants.
Research Interests: Darvin investigates how sociotechnical structures and algorithmic processes shape language learning, emphasizing critical digital literacies, identity, and decolonial pedagogies. His research addresses inequalities in AI access for low-resource language speakers and promotes antiracist educational frameworks.
