Peter Sayer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University’s College of Education and Human Ecology. He specializes in sociolinguistics, bilingual education, and language policy, particularly in Mexico and the U.S. His work emphasizes translanguaging, equity, and the sociopolitical dimensions of language education.

Research Interests:
Dr. Sayer investigates language education policy, translanguaging practices, and the intersection of technology (e.g., AI) with pedagogy. He has conducted extensive research on early English programs in Mexico, addressing issues of equity, neoliberalism, and language ideologies. His work often critiques systemic barriers to multilingual learners and advocates for inclusive policies.
Recent Activities:
- Organized panels on AI in education at AERA 2025 and AAAL 2025.
- Hosted the Multilingual Grandmaster Showdown with polyglot XiaomaNYC, showcasing students’ language abilities.
- Conducted workshops in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Paraguay on translanguaging and AI in language teaching.
