Romi Morrison

Romi Morrison is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Design Media Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), part of the School of the Arts and Architecture. Their interdisciplinary work explores the intersections of race, ethics, and social infrastructure within digital technologies, employing maps, data, sound, performance, and video to challenge systemic quantification of people, land, and knowledge. Key exhibitions include Transmediale (Berlin), ALT_CPH Biennial (Copenhagen), and the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago). Residencies include Eyebeam Center for Art + Technology and New York University’s ITP program.

Publications appear in MIT Press, University of California Press, Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience, and Logic Magazine. Their research emphasizes Black diasporic technologies and spatial politics, critiquing technological colonialism and data-driven systems.
