Roman Petrov

Roman Petrov, MD, PhD, MBA, FACS, is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at UTMB Health, serving as Section Chief of Thoracic Surgery and Associate Director of the Thoracic Surgery Fellowship Program. His expertise spans thoracic oncology, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and advanced surgical endoscopy, with a focus on lung and esophageal cancers, GERD, and benign foregut conditions. He pioneered techniques like POEM (Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy) and specializes in chest wall reconstruction and thoracic outlet syndrome.
