Roman Ashauer is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of York, UK. He holds additional roles including Honorary Fellow, Anniversary Research Lecturer, and former Deputy Head of Department. His research focuses on ecotoxicology and environmental modeling, particularly in pesticide toxicity, toxicokinetic-toxicodynamic (TK-TD) frameworks, and environmental risk assessment. Key contributions include the GUTS survival model and development of tools like TRTBee for regulatory guidelines.
Dr. Ashauer leads or collaborates on projects such as investigating temporal mixture effects in terrestrial ecosystems and developing sustainable pest control strategies in agriculture. He has secured grants from NERC, BBSRC, and internal funding for high-throughput measurement systems. His work emphasizes mechanistic modeling to bridge in vitro and in vivo toxicity data, addressing time-variable exposure scenarios and interspecies variability.
He has received notable awards including the SETAC Exceptional Paper Award and Environmental Toxicology & Chemistry Exceptional Reviewer Award. His research spans diverse topics from bioaccumulation in earthworms to pesticide effects on aquatic macrophytes, with over 60 peer-reviewed articles and book contributions. Collaborations include institutions globally, reflecting his role in advancing predictive ecotoxicology and ecosystem resilience strategies.
