Romain Vergne is an Associate Professor at the University of Grenoble Alpes, France, and a researcher affiliated with the Maverick team (Inria, LJK) since 2012. Previously, he conducted postdoctoral research at Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany).
His research focuses on the phenomenological links between shapes, light, and material perception, aiming to develop perceptually plausible computer graphics tools. Key interests include shape depiction, visual perception, texture synthesis, and appearance control via his GPU-centric node-based system Gratin for 2D/3D data manipulation.
