Dr. Rolf J. Ryham is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Mathematics at Fordham University. His research develops mathematical models for physical and biological systems, specializing in partial differential equations and scientific computing applied to fluid dynamics and biophysics.
Current work focuses on vesicle hydrodynamics, Janus particle behavior, and membrane biophysics. He develops computational methods to simulate hydrophobic interactions in lipid bilayers and nanoparticle systems, bridging continuum mechanics with molecular-scale phenomena.
Dr. Ryham's interdisciplinary collaborations include work on influenza virus membrane fusion mechanics and geometric models of lipid pores. His publications appear in journals including Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physical Review Fluids, and Biophysical Journal.
