Rolf F. Nohr is a Professor of Media Aesthetics/Media Culture at Braunschweig University of Art (Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig). He co-founded the game studies working group within the Gesellschaft für Medienwissenschaft (GfM) in 2003 with Britta Neitzel. His research focuses on strategic action in computer games, business simulation technologies, and photographic dispositives. He led major projects including Play Strategically. Control Techniques and Strategic Action in Popular Computer Games (2006–2011) and The Cultural Technology of Business Simulation (2012–2019). He is an editor of the book series Medien'Welten. Braunschweig Publications on Media Culture and an associate member of gamelab.berlin.
From 2013 to 2019, he contributed to the graduate school The Photographic Dispositive. His academic work bridges media theory, game studies, and cultural analysis, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to digital media and simulation technologies.
