Rolando Gonzalez-Torres

Rolando Gonzalez-Torres is an Associate Professor in the Architecture & Interior Design department at Southern Illinois University (SIU), with over 25 years of experience in architectural education across Mexico, Spain, and the USA.

His research focuses on the intersection of architecture and social sustainability, emphasizing habitat as a human and social phenomenon shaped by ethical design, geographical context, and historical conditions. He has contributed to international journals (Routledge, Ethan Publishing Co.) and participated in conferences in the US, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, and Krakow.

He previously served as a professor at Camilo José Cela University (Madrid), Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico City and Monterrey campuses), and Universidad Mexicana del Noreste (Monterrey, Mexico). His editorial roles include Board Member of the World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology; Reviewer for Ethan Publishing Company's Journal of Civil Engineering and Architecture; and Associate Editor for the International Journal of the Constructed Environment (Vol. 7, Issue 4).

Among his accolades are two Crystal Calli awards for architectural design (1987 and 1991), and he has taught courses such as Design II: Order, Urban Design and Community, and Graduate Architectural Design Studio.
