Prof. Roland Wedlich-Söldner holds the Chair of Multiscale Imaging and Cell Biology at the University of Münster, where he leads the Institute of Cell Dynamics and Imaging. He received his doctorate in biology.
His research investigates cellular self-organization mechanisms, particularly actin cytoskeleton dynamics, plasma membrane organization, and intracellular transport. Using yeast and mammalian models, his lab develops advanced microscopy techniques to study spatial patterning in living cells.
His publications reveal fundamental principles of cell polarization, membrane compartmentalization, and adaptive responses to environmental changes. Recent work explores calcium-mediated actin reorganization and membrane protein dynamics.
Prof. Wedlich-Söldner participates in the Cells-in-Motion research initiative and mentors doctoral students through the CiM-IMPRS graduate program.
