Professor Roland Fletcher is Professor of Theoretical and World Archaeology at the University of Sydney, directing the Greater Angkor Project. His research develops global interdisciplinary perspectives on settlement patterns, focusing on large-scale cultural phenomena and low-density urbanism over the past 15,000 years.
Key research includes the Angkor Research Program in Cambodia, investigating urban infrastructure, hydrological systems, and societal collapse through advanced technologies like lidar. Current projects examine risk and resilience of low-density settlements facing climate change.
