Roland Béhar is a Senior Lecturer at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS-PSL) in the Literature and Language Department. He co-leads the Writings from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance Team: Manuscripts and Translation and is involved in projects such as the Polemos Project and the Translatio Project. His teaching and research focus on translation and Hispanic literature, particularly from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
- Education: Degree in Spanish, Doctorate in Romance studies, former student of ENS
His research primarily examines the Renaissance in the Iberian Peninsula, its relationship with Italian models, and its influence up to the 17th century in Europe and America. He also explores recent Latin American literature. Recent trends in his publications include studies on Cervantes' sonnets, genetic criticism's application to Golden Age literature, and translation as a collaborative research framework.
Roland Béhar is actively involved in academic teams and seminars such as the "Make it new!" series on translating poetry. He collaborates with the Maison Victor Hugo for seminars and contributes to the TRANSLATIO project, focusing on classical and Spanish literature translation in modernity.
