معرفی
Rogier Windhorst is a Regents' Professor at Arizona State University's School of Earth and Space Exploration. His research focuses on astronomy, cosmology, galaxy formation, and the epoch of First Light, utilizing advanced telescopes like the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). He holds a PhD in Astronomy from Leiden University (1984) and earlier degrees from the same institution.
Windhorst's group studies distant galaxies, supermassive black holes, and the interplay between cosmic structures. As an Interdisciplinary Scientist for NASA's JWST, he leads efforts to map the early universe. His expertise spans astrophysical instrumentation, dark matter, and dark energy. Notable projects include PEARLS and EPOCHS surveys, analyzing galaxy mergers, gravitational lensing, and star formation at cosmological scales.
- Education:
- PhD in Astronomy, University of Leiden (1984)
- M.Sc. Astronomy and Physics, University of Leiden (1979)
- B.Sc. Astronomy, Physics, and Mathematics, University of Leiden (1976)
His work bridges observational astronomy with theoretical models, emphasizing high-redshift galaxy studies. Collaborations involve multi-wavelength data from HST, JWST, and X-ray telescopes. Windhorst's team explores cosmic phenomena like the epoch of reionization and the assembly of supermassive black holes, contributing to our understanding of the universe's evolution.
