Roger Polack serves as a Professorial Lecturer in Law at the George Washington University Law School and concurrently works as a Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, Office of International Affairs. At GW Law, he teaches International Law of Human Rights and Fundamental Issues in US Law, while at DOJ he litigates international extradition cases involving human trafficking, war crimes, and organized crime, and advises prosecutors on complex transnational legal matters.

His professional focus spans international human rights law, public international law, and international criminal law with deep expertise in U.S. constitutional law intersections, sanctions policy, and national security law. Field research across Asia includes investigations into atrocity crimes and human rights violations through witness interviews and collaboration with UN officials. His work critically examines accountability mechanisms for war crimes, human trafficking networks, terrorist financing structures, and insurgent corruption systems within international legal frameworks.
Professional experience encompasses leadership roles at Yale Law School’s Schell Center for International Human Rights, litigation before the International Court of Justice, Treasury Department intelligence operations in Southeast Asia and Afghanistan, and sanctions policy development at OFAC. He maintains active engagement with international legal practice through pro bono human rights work and cross-agency national security coordination via CFIUS.
