Roger Motson

Professor Roger Motson serves as Director of The ICENI Centre for Laparoscopic Surgery at Colchester University Hospital and Professor of Surgery at Anglia Ruskin University's School of Medicine. A pioneer in UK laparoscopic surgery since 1992, he has trained global surgical professionals through Colchester-based programs for over 25 years.

His research focuses on advancing laparoscopic techniques, particularly in colorectal procedures and surgical education. Motson has significantly influenced minimally invasive surgery through international lectures, live demonstrations, and clinical innovation. His work bridges academic medicine with practical surgical training methodologies.

Motson actively supervises research at Anglia Ruskin University. He previously held presidential leadership in major surgical societies including the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and the International Society of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeons. As Director of The ICENI Centre, he leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to laparoscopic surgery innovation, training standardization, and clinical excellence in minimally invasive procedures.
