Dr. Roger McNamara is an Associate Professor of Postcolonial Literature at Texas Tech University, specializing in South Asian fiction. His research investigates tensions between secularism and religion in postcolonial contexts, particularly through the lens of religious and ethnic minority experiences.
McNamara's monograph, Secularism and the Crisis of Minority Identity in Postcolonial Literature (2018), analyzes works by writers from minority communities in India and Sri Lanka. His current projects explore 'secular enchantment' in post-secular novels and Catholicism in global fiction.
Publications examine Anglo-Indian marginalization, Dalit Christianity, Parsi secularism, and pedagogical approaches to Muslim women's writing. Recent works include analyses of Rohinton Mistry and comparative frameworks for teaching South Asian literature.
