معرفی
Professor Roger Mac Ginty serves as Professor in Defence, Development and Diplomacy at Durham University's School of Government and International Affairs, where his research centers on the intersection of top-down and bottom-up approaches to peacemaking in conflict-affected societies.
His work critically examines everyday peace dynamics, peacebuilding methodologies, and the measurement of conflict and peace through projects like the Everyday Peace Indicators initiative. Key research areas include international intervention, political violence, peace processes, and the complex interactions between local and international actors in stabilization efforts.
Mac Ginty's recent publications demonstrate a pronounced shift toward micro-level conflict analysis, temporal dimensions in peace processes, and critical interrogations of liberal peacebuilding frameworks. His scholarship consistently emphasizes local agency, challenges data-driven peacebuilding assumptions, and explores phenomenological approaches to understanding lived experiences of peace.
As co-director of the Everyday Peace Indicators project and editor of the journal Peacebuilding and the "Rethinking Political Violence" book series, he maintains significant scholarly influence. His research has secured funding from the EU, ESRC, and Carnegie Corporation of New York, and he actively supervises doctoral candidates including Sarah Alareqi while welcoming new PhD students in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
