معرفی
Roger Humphry is a lecturer in quantitative science at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), specializing in the application of statistics and mathematics to biological sciences. He holds roles as module leader for the SRUC MRes in Epidemiology and Zoonoses, course leader for NHS staff training in statistical methods, and manager of outreach projects promoting mathematics education. His primary affiliations include the Food Security Challenge Centre at SRUC and honorary researcher positions with NHS Highland since 2020.
Research interests focus on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) measurement, livestock antimicrobial usage, BVD eradication, and epidemiological tool development. Notable projects include Scottish Government-funded work on AMR in livestock (2022–2027), SEFARI Response Fund initiatives, and collaborations on rural connectivity studies. Humphry has led over £200k in grants, including a £100k REF-funded project on AMR predictive metrics (2016–2017) and an NHS Highland statistical consultancy (£6k annually since 2010).
Teaching contributions include advanced mathematics tutoring, secondary school outreach, and professional development for veterinarians. His work bridges quantitative methods with applied health and agricultural challenges, emphasizing evidence-based policy and clinical outcomes. Key collaborations involve University of Edinburgh, NHS Highland, and the University of Highlands and Islands.
Recent research trends highlight AMR metrics improvement, mental health support for farmers, and livestock health surveillance. Projects emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, with outputs addressing both scientific and societal dimensions of disease control and public health.
