Roger Christman is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Art, Communication, and Sexual and Gender Diversity (SGD) at William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Originally from New York, he has lived in North Carolina for 30 years and combines his academic role with a passion for documentary filmmaking and media production. His work spans immersive learning experiences for students, reflecting William Peace University's commitment to turning passion into purpose.
Roger’s research interests focus on documentary storytelling, visual communication, and media’s intersection with cultural studies, including his ongoing project about the Lacandones of Chiapas, Mexico. His career bridges academia with real-world applications through corporate and educational collaborations.
He has received numerous professional accolades:

Roger has worked as a producer, director, camera operator, lighting director, and editor for broadcast, corporate, and educational programming, including collaborations with ABC News, Animal Planet, PBS, and major corporations like IBM and Ford Motor Company. Outside academia, he enjoys travel, hiking, and skiing, and is particularly fond of Raleigh’s historic Angus Barn restaurant.
