Roger Brownsword is a part-time Professor in Law at King’s College London and Bournemouth University, specializing in emerging technologies, bioethics, regulatory law, and contract law. With over 30 years of academic work, he has authored or co-authored numerous books, including Law 3.0 (2020), Technology, Governance and Respect for the Law (2023), and Governance of Technology (2025). He is a founding general editor of Law, Innovation and Technology and serves on the editorial boards of Modern Law Review, International Journal of Law and Information Technology, and other journals.
His research spans legal theory, technology governance, and bioethics, focusing on issues like human dignity, consent, smart contracts, and AI regulation. Recent work includes analyzing high-risk AI systems in healthcare, legal metrics for governance, and ethical frameworks for genetic testing. He has contributed to debates on nanotechnology, 3D printing, and data protection through book chapters and international publications.
