Rodney K. Rogers

Rodney K. Rogers, Ph.D., serves as the 12th president of Bowling Green State University (BGSU), a position he assumed on February 23, 2018, following an interim appointment that began January 1, 2018. As the first BGSU alumnus to serve as president, Dr. Rogers leads an institution with over 20,000 students and 2,300 faculty and staff across two campuses. Prior to becoming president, he served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs since 2012 and as dean of the Allen W. and Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business since 2006.

Dr. Rogers earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Ohio Northern University, an MBA from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. Before his academic career, he practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for over 10 years. His scholarly work focused on financial information usage by analysts, corporate disclosure strategies, and the role of the accounting profession in capital markets, resulting in over 30 publications and presentations.

Under Dr. Rogers' leadership, BGSU has established new academic units including the School of Nursing, School of Physical Therapy, School of Aviation, School of the Built Environment, and School of Engineering. He has spearheaded initiatives that increased faculty research funding by 42% since 2018 and launched the Life Design program to enhance student career preparation. His administration has overseen record enrollments, historic graduation and retention rates, and the highest freshmen academic profile in university history.

Dr. Rogers has secured transformative funding for BGSU, including a $121 million scholarship commitment (the largest dedicated to scholarships in Ohio history) and successfully completed the 'Changing Lives for the World' campaign which raised over $255 million. These achievements have contributed to BGSU's recognition as a tier-one public university by U.S. News and World Report and as the No. 1 public university in the Midwest for student satisfaction by The Wall Street Journal since 2019.

Active in regional and national higher education leadership, Dr. Rogers serves as chair of the Council of Presidents of the Inter-University Council of Ohio and the Board of Directors of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Council of Presidents of the Mid-American Conference and the Board of Directors of Ohio Campus Compact, demonstrating his commitment to collaborative leadership in higher education.
