Rodney Brown

Dr. Rodney Brown is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation within the Business School at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He holds a PhD in Accounting from the London School of Economics (LSE) and has taught at the LSE, King's College London, and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). With over 20 years of industry experience as a Chartered Accountant and financial planner, including roles at PwC and EY, he bridges academic research and practice.

His research focuses on corporate tax avoidance, tax transparency via country-by-country reporting, and the behavioral impacts of tax policy reforms. He has secured competitive grants from AFAANZ and CPA Australia and served on committees like the UNSW Business School’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee and The Tax Institute’s Education Quality Assurance Board.

Dr. Brown’s work has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting (ABDC A*), Australian Tax Forum (ABDC A*), and Australian Tax Review (ABDC A). He reviews for A*-ranked journals and has presented at global conferences including the Tax Research Network and the EU Tax Observatory.
