Andrew Ainsworth is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Wollongong’s School of Business, within the Faculty of Business and Law. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) from the University of Western Australia. Prior to academia, he worked as an analyst at the Reserve Bank of Australia.
His research focuses on dividends, taxation policies (particularly Australia’s imputation tax system), and market valuation of dividends/franking credits. Key areas include dividend impacts on asset pricing, investment management strategies, investor behavior (individual and institutional), and financial market liquidity. He has secured grants from the Australian Research Council (ARC) to study the imputation tax system and superannuation fund fees.
Recent work explores superannuation fund performance linked to fee structures and asset allocation, and investigates how tax policies influence investor behavior around ex-dividend days. His research often bridges tax policy analysis with practical implications for asset management and retirement savings.
