Rodgers, R. Pierre

Dr. R. Pierre Rodgers is an Associate Professor at the School of Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management at George Mason University, specializing in Sport Management. He serves as the Academic Program Co-Coordinator for Sport and Recreation Studies and is affiliated with the Center for Sport Management and the Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure in Society.

His research focuses on the intersections of race, gender, and communication in sport contexts, examining issues such as racial/social marginalization, rhetoric, and the cultural significance of sport. He has published in journals like World Communication and Psychological Reports, with trends in his publications emphasizing sociocultural dynamics in sports, including studies on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and ethical frameworks in coaching.

Dr. Rodgers has held leadership roles, including past presidency of the Maryland Communication Association, and contributed as a former Associate Editor for Communication Teacher. He actively reviews manuscripts for scholarly publications.
