Rocio Rodriguez Cano is an Assistant Professor in the Antennas, Propagation and Millimetre-Wave Systems (APMS) section at Aalborg University’s Technical Faculty of IT and Design. She specializes in antenna design for 5G/6G communication systems, dielectric material characterization, and integrating mm-wave antennas with mobile devices. Her work includes collaborations with industry partners like Corning to enhance glass-based antenna performance and optimize material properties for next-generation electronics.
Her research focuses on mitigating signal blockage in mobile terminals, developing transparent metasurfaces for phased arrays, and studying silicate materials at mm-wave/THz frequencies to understand their boson peak and ionic resonance effects. She holds a Villum International Postdoc grant (2021–2025) and conducted postdoctoral research at Penn State University (2022–2023), analyzing dielectric materials for high-frequency applications.
- Awards: Villum International Postdoc grant (2021).
- Projects:
- "Antenna design and integration on glass surfaces for 5G/6G" (PI, 2021–2025).
- "Enhancing mmWave (5G) Transmission Through Gorilla Glass" (Co-PI, 2021–2024).
- Grants: VILLUM Foundation-funded postdoctoral research.
- Labs/Teams: APMS section at Aalborg University; collaborations with Corning and Penn State University.
Her publications emphasize practical solutions for antenna integration challenges, material science advancements for 6G packaging, and optimizing transmission through glass in mobile devices. She also contributes to sustainable development goals related to affordable and clean energy via improved communication infrastructure efficiency.
