Dr. Robyne Le Brocque is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland's School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work (University of New South Wales), a Master's (Coursework), and a PhD (both from UQ). Her research spans clinical psychology, trauma recovery, pediatric mental health, and healthcare communication.
Her work investigates post-traumatic stress in children, family-inclusive therapies for eating disorders, trauma-informed education, and patient-clinician communication dynamics. Recent publications emphasize longitudinal studies in pediatric ICU trauma, ethical implications of patient-led clinical recordings, and coping mechanisms during crises like COVID-19.
She has secured grants including:
- Feasibility testing of psychological interventions for critical illness survivors (Griffith University, 2016–2018)
- Medical traumatic stress in pediatric ICU families (Royal Children's Hospital Foundation, 2008–2009)
As an active supervisor, she mentors PhD candidates in trauma psychology, disaster impacts on education, and inclusive research methodologies. Her lab focuses on interdisciplinary collaborations bridging clinical practice, psychology, and social work.
