Robin Raju, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Medical Director of Yale New Haven Health Rehabilitation Services and specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Physiatry). His clinical focus encompasses comprehensive, non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal pain, chronic pain, overuse injuries, and sports and trauma-related conditions, utilizing physical therapy, injections, and alternative modalities.
Dr. Raju's research interests center on regenerative medicine and evaluating the effectiveness of spine and joint injections. His recent publications reflect a strong focus on pain management, including studies on healthcare disparities in chronic low back pain, the safety of corticosteroid injections during the pandemic, and technical aspects of interventional pain procedures. His work often employs retrospective analyses and clinical trials to improve patient outcomes.
He is actively involved in academic and clinical service, serving on the YNHH Medical Executive Administration Committee and as a reviewer for the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His research is frequently conducted in collaboration with colleagues such as Eric K. Holder, Mark Dundas, and Jingchen Liang.
Dr. Raju completed his fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University/Rothman Institute, residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Case Western Reserve University/MetroHealth Medical Center, and an internship in Family Practice at Good Samaritan Medical Center. He earned his DO from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.
