Robin Hyde is an Assistant Professor in Children's Nursing at Northumbria University, joining in 2020. He holds dual roles as a Senior Lecturer and academic leader, contributing to programme development and accreditation. His leadership includes interim Director of Practice Placements and Head of Accreditation for the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health. He is also an Honorary Secretary and Trustee of the Association of British Paediatric Nurses.
Hyde’s academic background includes a BSc (Child Health), MSc in Advanced Paediatric Practice, and a PG Cert in Higher Education Teaching. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and currently pursuing a PhD in Realist Evaluation of Advanced Practice in pediatric healthcare settings.
His research focuses on advanced practice workforce models, realist evaluation methodologies, and pediatric nursing education. Notable contributions include national standards for Advanced Practice in Scotland and collaborative projects like the Fit4CYP initiative examining NMC Future Nurse Standards. He actively contributes to regional and national healthcare advisory groups.
Hyde’s publications span peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, addressing topics like clinical outcomes of Advanced Practitioners, pediatric nurse education, and prescribing practice. He has secured £29,438 for the 'Developing a Common Assessment Tool' project and serves as an external examiner for Liverpool John Moores University.
