معرفی
Roberto Rosal García is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alcalá, Spain. He holds a doctorate from the University of Oviedo and is affiliated with the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering. His research focuses on environmental distribution and impact of microplastics, nanoplastics, and anthropogenic pollutants. He leads projects on water treatment technologies, including advanced oxidation processes and nanomaterial-based solutions for pollution remediation.
Education:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Oviedo (1991), thesis: Hidrogenación de aceite de antraceno y su empleo en la licuefacción de carbón.
Research Interests: Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microplastic Degradation, Ecotoxicology, Nanomaterials for Water Treatment, and Sustainable Pollution Control. His work emphasizes developing novel methods to assess and mitigate microplastic toxicity in aquatic environments and improving wastewater purification through photocatalytic technologies.
Recent Research Trends: His articles address nanoplastic generation methods, toxicity assessments, and atmospheric microplastic monitoring. He investigates bioindicator species (e.g., birds) for tracking pollution and evaluates advanced materials like metal-organic frameworks for nanoplastic removal. Collaborations include interdisciplinary projects on biodegradable plastics and circular economy solutions.
Grants & Projects:
- Coordinator of Plastics Monitoring, Detection, Remediation, and Recovery (PRIORITY) (2021-2025).
- Member of the Thematic Network of Micro- and Nanoplastics in the Environment (2021-2025).
- Co-investigator in Bioplastics for Sustainable Agriculture (2021-2024).
Teams & Labs: Leads a research group in environmental engineering at the University of Alcalá, collaborating with institutions globally on microplastic pollution and remediation strategies.
