He investigates how Indigenous communities in the Yucatan peninsula transform ancient ruins into vibrant cultural spaces, challenging the notion of abandoned heritage sites. His work integrates Indigenous knowledge systems to demonstrate sustainable community regeneration over time.
He maintains long-term collaborations with Indigenous communities and colleagues in Yucatan, Mexico, focusing on sites like the ancient Maya city of Ake. His current projects aim to build infrastructure for revitalizing Indigenous knowledge across the Americas, with a book in progress based on his doctoral dissertation.
