Dr. Roberto Roccu is a Reader in International Political Economy at King’s College London, affiliated with the Department of European & International Studies within the School of Politics & Economics. His research focuses on critical International Political Economy (IPE), particularly in the Middle East and Mediterranean. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE), an MA from the University of Bologna-Forlì, and a BA from the University of Sassari.
His work bridges IPE and Middle East studies, examining EU policies, financialization, and global political economy dynamics in the region. Key research themes include EU reforms in Egypt, the impact of globalization on Middle Eastern economies, and theoretical dialogues between IPE and Middle East scholarship. He has published extensively on neoliberal authoritarianism, EU-Mediterranean relations, and the political economy of the Arab uprisings.
Roccu teaches modules on International Political Economy and Middle Eastern global integration at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
