Roberto Orozco

Roberto Orozco is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development at the University of Minnesota. He holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Rutgers University with a certificate in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, an M.S. in Higher Education from Florida State University, and dual B.S. degrees in Marketing/International Business and Psychology from Iowa State University.

His research examines race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality through frameworks including Jotería Studies, Critical Race Theory, and Chicana Latina Feminisms, with specific focus on queer Latinx college student activism, identity development, and socio-political consciousness. Recent publications explore queer pláticas methodology and educational futurity.

Honors include the Evelyn Headley Award for Outstanding Dissertation (2023), AAHHE Dissertation Award (2nd place), and Ford Foundation Fellowship.
