Roberto Narcisi

Roberto Narcisi is an Associate Professor at Erasmus MC in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. His research focuses on musculoskeletal tissue engineering and regenerative medicine with particular emphasis on osteoarthritis and cartilage repair mechanisms.

Dr. Narcisi's primary research interests include:

• Mesenchymal Stem Cell biology and applications
• Macrophage interactions in tissue repair
• Osteoarthritis pathophysiology and treatment
• Chondrocyte biology and cartilage regeneration
• Tissue engineering approaches for osteochondral defects

His recent publications demonstrate a strong translational focus, exploring innovative approaches to modulate inflammation in osteoarthritis, develop biomaterials for cartilage repair, and understand cellular mechanisms in joint diseases. Dr. Narcisi employs multi-model approaches combining in vitro, in silico, and preclinical models to advance understanding of musculoskeletal disorders.

With 43 research outputs including 40 articles, 2 book chapters, and 1 editorial, Dr. Narcisi has established himself as a significant contributor to orthopedic research. His work shows strong connections between cellular mechanisms and clinical applications in sports medicine.
