Roberto F. Borda

Roberto F. Borda is a Researcher at the Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology (JCET) at UMBC, affiliated with the Department of Physics. He holds a PhD (2001) and MS (1996) in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires. His career includes a National Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship at NASA GSFC (2002) and membership in Dr. Vanderlei Martins' research group since 2006. Borda specializes in scientific instrumentation design for atmospheric remote sensing, polarization, and automation, contributing to projects like HARP (satellite) and Cloud Scanner (avionics). He has been awarded twice by NASA for instrumental design excellence.

Research Interests: Borda's work focuses on passive/active atmospheric remote sensing, polarization analysis, pattern recognition, and automation in instrumentation. He has collaborated on projects such as the Hyper-Angular Rainbow Polarimeter (HARP) for NASA's PACE satellite, emphasizing instrument calibration and field campaigns like Milagro and VOCALS.
