Roberta Barker is a Professor in Theatre Studies at Dalhousie University's Fountain School of Performing Arts, with cross-appointments in Gender and Women's Studies and Canadian Studies. Her research examines how theatrical performance intersects with identity construction, focusing on gender, class, and medical humanities. She has directed operas and plays across Canada and served as General Editor for the New Essays in Canadian Theatre series.
