Robert Weatherup is a Lecturer in Quantity Surveying at the Belfast School of Architecture and the Built Environment, part of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment at Ulster University. His work focuses on construction economics, particularly in whole life value engineering and disaster response and recovery.
He co-founded the research group Civic Ecology and Life Infrastructure (CELI), addressing global challenges like health, food security, and ecosystem biodiversity through nature-based solutions. His research aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing biodiversity enhancement and green integrated communities.
Key research outputs include studies on shale gas extraction risks (2016), neural network-based risk models for construction costs (2011), and tender-to-account cost variability analysis (2010). These works intersect engineering, environmental sustainability, and economic modeling.
