Robert Wachter

Robert Wachter, MD, is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He is renowned as the 'father of hospital medicine' after coining the term 'hospitalist' in 1996. His leadership roles include past presidency of the Society of Hospital Medicine and chairmanship of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Wachter's research focuses on patient safety, healthcare technology, and the ethical implications of AI in medicine. He has authored six books, including the New York Times bestseller The Digital Doctor and an upcoming book on AI in healthcare. His honors include the John M.
