Robert M. Wachter

Robert M. Wachter, MD is Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), School of Medicine. He is a leading figure in hospital medicine, patient safety, digital health, and healthcare policy.

He has authored over 300 articles and six books, including the New York Times bestseller The Digital Doctor, and is working on a new book, A Giant Leap: How AI is Transforming Healthcare, to be published in 2026.
