Dr. Robert W. Taylor serves as Dean and Director of Land-Grant Programs for the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences at Florida A&M University (since 2012). Previously, he was Dean of the School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Alabama A&M University (2006–2011) and Professor of Soil and Environmental Chemistry there (1990–2006). He directed the Center for Environmental Research and Training (CERT) from 1990 to 2006.

- M.S. in Soil Microbiology, Tuskegee Institute
- Ph.D. in Soil Chemistry, Michigan State University
Research Focus: Specializes in soil and environmental chemistry, plant science, and pollution mitigation. Pioneered a new soil phosphorus (P) adsorption hypothesis and contributed to nanopore chemical adsorption theory in minerals. Served as Associate Editor of the Soil Science Society of America Journal’s Soil Chemistry Division (2009–2014) and chaired the division (2002–2003).
