Robert Vogler

Dr. Robert Vogler is a Senior Scientist at the University of Salzburg's Department of Sociology and Social Geography, part of the Faculty of Digital and Analytical Sciences. His work focuses on advancing spatially enabled learning, geomedia applications in education, and addressing societal challenges through geography didactics. Key areas include participatory citizen science, digital tools for sustainable development, and combating right-wing extremism through educational mapping projects.

Research Interests: GI/geomedia in education environments, spatially enabled learning, social construction of space, and education for sustainable development. Vogler has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed publications, including work on OpenStreetMap usability, participatory spatial planning, and youth engagement in urban development.

Recent projects include the u³Green initiative for participatory citizen science and the YouthMap 5020 project, which designs youth-centered web maps. His work bridges geoinformatics with social science pedagogy, emphasizing real-world applications of spatial technologies in classrooms and communities.
