Robert Steinbuch is a Professor of Law at the William H. Bowen School of Law, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, holding the Arkansas Bar Foundation Professorship. He previously served in government roles, including clerkships on the U.S. Court of Appeals and work with the U.S. Department of Justice. His expertise spans administrative law, securities law, healthcare law, and legal ethics, with a focus on transparency and institutional accountability.
Education: B.A. and M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania (1989); J.D. from Columbia University (1992).
Research interests include freedom of information laws, affirmative action in legal education, and the intersection of law and economics. His work has been cited by Supreme Court justices and published in prominent legal journals. He is a Fulbright Scholar (2015) and has testified before U.S. Senate and House committees, as well as Arkansas legislative bodies.
Key achievements include authoring the treatise on the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act and serving as medical-legal editor for the Journal of the National Medical Association. He has also contributed to legislative drafting and policy initiatives, including the Arkansas Newborn Umbilical Cord Blood Bank Initiative.
