Robert Shuman Jr., AIA LEED AP, serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at Temple University's Tyler School of Art and Architecture, where he taught in the MArch program for over a dozen years and served as Architecture Program Head from 2019 to 2023. With 35+ years of institutional architectural practice, his work emphasizes sustainable design, craft, and environmental impact through both large-scale buildings and small-scale furniture.
His educational background includes:

Rooted in early carpentry and furniture-making training, his research integrates traditional joinery with contemporary techniques across architectural scales. His award-winning projects demonstrate expertise in institutional architecture and sustainable design, including Temple University's Morgan Hall (recipient of three AIA awards), the Shipley School Student Center, and the Salvation Army Kroc Center.
