Robert Shanklin is a Teaching Professor of Philosophy at Santa Clara University, located in the San Francisco Bay Area. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (2011) and a B.A. from Vassar College (2002). His research focuses on ethics, human language, and comparative philosophy, particularly Chinese-Western relations. He explores how value terms like 'ought,' 'good,' and 'must' are used across languages, cultures, and contexts. Shanklin also engages in business ethics, meta-ethics, and aesthetics.
