Robert S. Wai is an Associate Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, where he has been a faculty member since 1998. His research and teaching focus on international economic law, globalization, contracts, and transnational legal regimes, including intersections between public/private law and domestic/international law. He has held visiting roles at institutions like the European University Institute, London School of Economics, University of Hong Kong, Sciences Po Law School, and Brown University.
Education:
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from McGill University (Beatty Gold Medalist)
- Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in International Relations from Oxford University (Rhodes Scholar)
- LLB from the University of British Columbia
- Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) from Harvard Law School
His research critically examines how transnational legal norms constitute and regulate the global economy. He has served on the Academic Council of Harvard Law School’s Institute for Global Law and Policy since 2010 and delivered lectures such as the 2019 Donald Mawhinney Lecturer in Professional Ethics at UBC and a forthcoming course at the Hague Academy of International Law.
