Dr. Robert S. Chapkin is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Texas A&M University, holding prestigious positions such as the Allen Endowed Chair in Nutrition & Chronic Disease Prevention and NIH NCI R35 Outstanding Investigator. He is also a Regents Professor and University Faculty Fellow.

Dr. Chapkin is an international leader in dietary and microbial modulators for colon cancer and chronic inflammatory disease prevention. His research spans signal transduction in intestinal stem cells, membrane biology, and systems biology-based methodologies for translational research. He has pioneered work in diet-gene interactions and non-invasive biomarkers for gastrointestinal diseases.
His awards include the AAAS Fellowship, Osborne and Mendel Award, and multiple university honors for research and mentoring. He has mentored 23 PhD students, 10 M.S. students, and 30 postdoctoral fellows.
As Deputy Director of the CPRIT Regional Center for Excellence in Cancer Research and NIEHS CTEHR, he has built interdisciplinary teams across Texas A&M’s Health Science Center, Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Science, and Biomedical Sciences.
