Robert Peter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Rijeka, affiliated with the Faculty of Physics. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Zagreb and an M.Ed. in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Rijeka. His research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics, particularly semiconductor surface physics and advanced material characterization techniques such as X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS), synchrotron-based photoabsorption, and atomic layer deposition (ALD). His work explores photocatalytic materials, ion beam analysis, and surface functionalization for energy and environmental applications.
Key research areas include the development of thin films with tailored photocatalytic properties, such as ZnO and TiO₂, and the study of material modifications via low-energy ion bombardment. He collaborates with the Centre for Micro- and Nanosciences and Technologies, advancing nanotechnology and materials innovation. His recent publications emphasize optimizing semiconductor surfaces for enhanced water splitting, hydrogen incorporation, and visible-light photocatalysis.
Dr. Peter has extensive experience in teaching courses like Modern Physics and Data Analysis. His research has been featured in high-impact journals, with a focus on thin film synthesis, surface modifications, and advanced spectroscopic techniques. He actively contributes to international collaborations and maintains a robust publication record in nanomaterials and environmental applications.
