Robert Novy-Marx is the Lori and Alan S. Zekelman Distinguished Professor of Business Administration at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester. He specializes in empirical asset pricing, public finance, and financial econometrics. Prior to joining Simon School, he taught at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is an active researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
His research interests focus on understanding market anomalies, liquidity provision, pension valuation, and investment strategies. He has published extensively in top journals like the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Finance, and Review of Financial Studies.
Key achievements include the Fama/DFA Prize (2012, 2013), Smith-Breeden Prize (2011), and Spängler IQAM Prize (2011). His work spans topics such as profitability premiums, transaction cost modeling, and the fiscal implications of public pension systems.
Novy-Marx also maintains an active teaching portfolio, offering courses in empirical asset pricing, derivatives, and applied economics.
