Robert Nerenberg is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at the University of Notre Dame's College of Engineering. His research focuses on biofilms and their applications in wastewater treatment, drinking water systems, and clinical infections. He utilizes experimental tools, molecular techniques, and computational modeling to advance sustainable water management technologies.

His publications emphasize biofilm heterogeneity, CO2-driven denitrification, and predation impacts in engineered systems. Ongoing collaborations include Trinity College Dublin for clinical biofilm applications in cystic fibrosis therapies.
