Robert McTyre

Robert McTyre serves as Professor of Organizational Management at Spring Arbor University, primarily assigned to the School of Communication, Media, and Fine Arts while also teaching in the Gainey School of Business and English Department. Joining in 1999 as an adjunct writing instructor, he transitioned to full-time writing specialist in 2002, served as interim assistant dean in 2007, and became Director of Writing and professor in 2008.

His educational background includes dual PhDs from Capella University in Business Administration and Organizational Management. McTyre’s research spans Writing Pedagogy, Organizational Management, Communication Studies, Learning Theory, and Religious Leadership, with specific focus on digital stewardship, writing evaluation methodologies, interpersonal communication dynamics, self-directed learning frameworks, and intergenerational church leadership structures. He developed the WRE 050 writing seminar to cultivate students’ unique voices through faith-integrated pedagogy.

As an educator, McTyre emphasizes personalized student guidance through consulting and tutoring, viewing writing development and spiritual growth as inseparable. His Christian faith fundamentally shapes his teaching philosophy, with Christ-centered redemption framing all classroom interactions since his 1976 conversion. He actively mentors students through the writing program while serving as Technical Lead for Black Girls Code (Detroit Chapter) and Board Member for Just Ask Foundation.
